Streams:
The Subclass 189 Visa comprises three streams tailored to different applicant groups:

Eligibility Criteria:
General Requirements (Points-Tested Stream):
To apply, you must:

Receive a written invitation from the Minister to apply for this visa.

Lodge your application within the timeframe specified in the invitation (typically 60 days).

Be under 45 years of age at the time of invitation. (Exemptions apply for certain occupations)

Nominate a skilled occupation listed by the Minister (check to see if your occupation in the list: https://www.legislation.gov.au/F2019L00278/latest/text and have a positive skills assessment for that occupation.

Hold an eligible visa if applying from within Australia, such as a substantive visa, Bridging A, B, or C visa.

Meet health, character, and English language requirements.
Hong Kong Stream Requirements:
To qualify under this stream, you must:

Hold a Hong Kong or British National (Overseas) passport.

Have held a qualifying visa (e.g., Subclass 457, 482, or 485) as a primary applicant:

Before July 9, 2020, with permission to remain in Australia until after July 8, 2025; or

On or after July 9, 2020, valid for five years from the visa start date.

Reside in Australia on the qualifying visa for at least four years.
Work Rights:
